Provider FAQ
Q: Can I have plants in my office?
A: Yes! Please do! If you have part-time (shared) access to your office, you’ll be asked to OK your plants with your office mate(s). To prevent overwatering or accidental neglect, you will be solely responsible for the care of your plants. Plants in poor health and/or hosting pests may need to be removed on a case-by-case basis.

Q: Can I have a fish tank in my office?
A: Yup! As with plants, if you share your office, you will be asked to first OK the fish tank with your office mate(s). Care for your fish will be your sole responsibility, and their quality of life will be taken into account. You must provide your fish with an adequate sized tank for their species, number, and size. A fish tank in poor condition may need to be removed.

Q: Can I bring my own office chair?

A: Of course. Just let management know so we can remove the one that’s provided. If you prefer not to have your office mate(s) use your chair, you may need to swap it out each time you’re in the office or rent your space full-time so that you have exclusive access.

Q: My practice involves use of candles. Am I allowed to have real candles in my office?

A: Ugh, we wish! Candles can create a truly lovely, calming environment and pretty much everyone loves them. Unfortunately the risk associated with having open flames in the building is just too high. You are welcome to use flameless candles, wax warmers with automatic shut-off, and oil diffusers.
How about incense?
Sorry, no. :( See above list of approved items.

Q: Can I keep personal items and/or client records in my office?

A: If you share your office, it is not recommended that you leave personal items. Doing so will be at your own risk. Leaving client records in a shared office is strictly prohibited, as this is a breach of client confidentiality.
A: If you have exclusive access to your office, you are welcome to leave personal items as long as they’re stored neatly to prevent being thrown away by cleaning staff. Exclusive access to your office will allow you to keep client records there, provided that you store them in a locked cabinet for which you are solely responsible.

Q: Is there a refrigerator and/or microwave I can use?

A: Yes! There is a refrigerator and microwave located in our staff lounge. Please label and date anything you put in the fridge and be sure to remove any uneaten food within a week. Any odor-causing food items will be disposed of by cleaning staff. Please be courteous to others in the building by not microwaving fish.

Q: Can I have a mini-fridge and/or microwave in my office?

A: Yes, as long as your office mate(s) agree to it, and you keep the items clean and odor-free. Any odor-causing foods will be disposed of by cleaning staff. Please be courteous to others in the building and do not microwave fish. (Seriously, just don’t microwave fish.)

Q: Do you have EMDR equipment?

A: Sure do! A NeuroTek brand tabletop light bar, hand pulsers, and headphones are available for rent on a first-come, first-served basis.

Q: Can I microwave fish in the building?

A: No, you cannot.

Q: Can I redecorate my office?

A: Sure! If you have full-time (exclusive) access to your office, you are welcome to make changes to the furniture and/or decor as you like (please return any unused items to management rather than disposing of or keeping them.) If you share your office, you and your office mate(s) can discuss desired changes and bring agreed upon changes to management, again returning unused items rather than keeping or disposing of them.

Q: I’m a massage therapist. Do you provide a table? What about linens?

A: We do have a professional grade massage table set up in office #5, and use of it is included in your rental fee. :) If you prefer your own table, you are of course welcome to bring and use it instead.
We do not have on-site laundry, so we ask that massage therapists bring their own linens and launder them at home. If you forget your linens (we’re all human!), we have one set of linens available for use for an additional fee.

Q: Can I see clients on a walk-in basis?

A: Unfortunately, no. To ensure the safety of our clients and staff, access to our building is by appointment only. You are welcome to take walk-in inquiries via phone and schedule appointments on the fly, however. See management with further questions about this practice model!

Q: Can I provide telehealth here?

A: Absolutely! Whether you planned a full day of in-person clients and need to pivot due to client illness or car trouble, or you just need a calm, private space to hold your telehealth sessions as planned, our offices are just the place. In each of our talk therapy offices, the desk and decor have been arranged with intention to provide a lovely, professional backdrop - no blurring or stock background needed. Each desk is equipped with an adjustable riser to prevent unfortunate angles, and WiFi is included in your rental fee. All you need to bring is your laptop and unique skills, we’ve got the rest covered!

Q: What’s the parking situation?

A: We have an on-site lot where you and your clients can park for free. In the event that overflow parking is needed, the grassy area next to the paved lot can be used.

Q: I’m a religious counselor and I would like to provide conversion therapy. Can I do this at Kind + Calm Wellness Space?

A: Nope. This would be considered a violation of our code of conduct and would be grounds for immediate termination of your lease. Kind + Calm Wellness Space is a queer-owned business and we assert that conversion therapy is an abusive practice which is antithetical to our mission, vision, and values.

Q: Do I need a license to practice here?

A: Yes, all practitioners are required to be licensed by the appropriate board associated with their area of practice. You must have your professional license on display during your working hours.

Q: Do you handle my billing?

A: All practitioners renting an office space at Kind + Calm Wellness Space are expected to operate under their own LLC and are thus responsible for their own billing. We do not offer billing services. For clinicians (LMSW, LLMSW) interested in joining the practice rather than renting space, billing will be done by the practice.
